Communications Workers of America Endorses HR 676
Washington, DC The Communications Workers of America (CWA) is the 20th international union to endorse HR 676, national single payer healthcare legislation introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).
The endorsement came in a comprehensive resolution on national health care reform that was passed at CWA’s recent 70th Annual Convention in Las Vegas, June 23-25, 2008.
Shortly after the October 15th presidential debate, Larry Cohen, CWA International Union President, referred to the convention action in an on-line chat with CWA members. Responding to a CWA member who asked about support for HR 676, Cohen said: “We strongly support H.R.676. It was one of three bills that were cited in the CWA convention resolution among pending legislation that address CWA’s key principles for health reform.”
