Reno, Nevada. The Regional Council of Steelworkers District 12 (USW) has passed a resolution endorsing HR 676, single payer healthcare legislation introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).

The resolution states that, “…(T)he Local Unions attending the Regional Council of USW District 12 will work to build popular support and action for single payer universal health care and HR 676 until we have the excellent health care system we deserve.”

The USW Regional Council will send a copy of the resolution to the Congressional delegations in the jurisdiction of USW District 12. They will encourage other members of the House to sign on as co-sponsors of HR 676 and encourage Senators to introduce a companion bill in the Senate.

USW District 12 is the largest geographic district in the union representing local unions in eleven western states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA). The Regional Council met on September 10th.
