Musicians International Union Convention Endorses HR 676
Las Vegas, Nevada. The 97th International Convention of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM) has approved a resolution endorsing HR 676 single payer legislation introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-MI).
Resolution 33, which was submitted by New York City Local 802, called attention to the fact that “Musicians and other engaged in the arts and entertainment industry, because of the often intermittent nature of their employment, are uninsured at a much greater percentage than others.”
The AFM is the eighth international union to endorse HR 676. Other international unions that have endorsed HR 676 include the UAW, ILWU, NEA, NALC, UE, UA Plumbers & Pipefitters, and CNA/NNOC.
